My stay at Jianguo Qianmen Beijing had its highs and lows. The location was convenient for reaching Tiananmen Square and other historic sites, but I found the immediate area rather dull. While the breakfast buffet impressed me with its variety, the overall service left much to be desired, with staff often seeming disinterested. Unfortunately, my room had an unpleasant smell and some outdated furniture.

Rooms
5.0
My room was decently sized, but unfortunately, it smelled faintly of stale smoke, which was off-putting (I was in a nonsmoking room!). The furnishings were a bit dated, and the plumbing in the bathroom was loose, causing inconvenience.
Service
5.0
The service was a mixed bag. A few staff members were friendly and helpful, but many seemed indifferent, especially when I brought up the issues with my room.
Location
6.0
The location is within walking distance to major attractions like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, but the surrounding area was quite boring and lacked any interest for foreigners (mostly just local shops and restaurants).
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was the highlight of my stay! It offered a wide selection and was the best I enjoyed during my trip (I especially loved the variety of Chinese dishes on offer).
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were okay, but I was disappointed to learn the airport shuttle service I relied on was no longer available (this should really be updated on their website). Additionally, I noticed some basic amenities were lacking, like hair conditioning products.

I recently stayed at Jianguo Qianmen Beijing and it had its ups and downs. While the staff was friendly and the location was decent for getting to attractions, I found the room to be a bit lackluster and the customer service left much to be desired. Overall, it wasn’t a bad place to stay, but definitely not my favorite.

Rooms
6.0
My room was spacious and nicely furnished, but there was a weird, dank smell that didn’t sit right. Plumbing fittings were old, and the tub didn’t drain well, which was disappointing.
Service
5.0
Some staff were really friendly, but many seemed completely disinterested or unsure of basic information. For example, when I asked for a map, I kept getting sent back and forth between staff who didn't have it or didn’t know where to find it.
Location
5.0
The hotel is in South Beijing and was a reasonable walking distance to attractions like the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. However, the surrounding area was pretty boring for a foreigner like me with few English-speaking locals around.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast buffet was varied and pretty good, catering to different tastes, but overall, the dining experience wasn’t a highlight for me.
Facilities

I was disappointed to find out the free airport shuttle mentioned on the website was no longer available. I also noticed the Wi-Fi was slow with frequent disconnections, which impacted my stay.

While some staff were friendly and spoke English, others seemed untrained and disinterested. I faced some frustrating moments with service at the bar that detracted from my overall experience.

My stay at Jianguo Qianmen Beijing had its ups and downs. The location was decent for accessing historic sites, but the hotel itself felt outdated and in need of refreshing. While my room was a good size with comfortable beds, the air conditioning issues and cleanliness in the bathroom were disappointing. Overall, it served my needs, but there are definitely areas for improvement.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but definitely showing their age. The bathrooms had some cleanliness issues that made me uneasy.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly, but my experience with communication was frustrating. Limited English made even simple requests difficult, and I remember having to use Google Translate.
Location
6.0
The hotel is conveniently located near historic areas. However, I found the surrounding area quite boring, with limited dining and shopping options.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast buffet was adequate but not excellent. Some food was barely warm, and I would have liked more variety.

Facilities like room service and housekeeping were available, but they could improve on efficiency. The lobby area was limited in seating, especially during busy mornings.

My stay at Jianguo Qianmen was a mixed experience. The location was excellent, making it easy to explore major attractions like Tiananmen Square. However, the service left much to be desired, particularly at the bar and concierge desk. The rooms were adequate, though compact, but had some issues with cleanliness.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were large and came with necessary amenities like complimentary tea and coffee. However, I noticed they still needed a good cleaning when I first checked in.
Service
5.0
Customer service was disappointing overall. The bar staff struggled with basic offers, and the concierge was indifferent when I asked for simple assistance. The language barrier didn’t help either.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was perfect, near many cultural sites. It allowed for enjoyable walks to places like the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast provided a wide selection that catered to various tastes. While it was decent, I found it a bit skewed towards local dishes which may not suit everyone's palate.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like room service and a money change machine were handy. But I did encounter issues like the lack of a hair conditioner and misleading information about an airport shuttle.
